: I removed a shower in the basement and found a hole dug around the shower drain.water was filling the hole, filled hole with concrete, water still seeps in but the drain pipe seems to be clogged.I covered pipe before pouring concrete.Could this be groundwater or a backed up pipe somewhere.I plan to waterproof that part of basement.I do not understand why the shower drain pipe is clogged

Tim, Drains do clogg up over the years. Something like to much colestoral in the arteries. Use a drain cleaning machine to clear this drain. The water may be ground water. Only you know about your water table in your area. Do you have a sump pump with perimerter drains around your foundation? If you don't you may need it if you are getting water in the basement.Dale's Plumbing Service Inc LMP
