Even piping both of them exactly the same can not guarantee that one heater will not be drained of hot water first. Connecting them in series is the only way to ensure that you get the full amount of hot water out of the system.
: After installing a jacuzzi awhile back, I needed to add another water heater. I hired someone to do it, but I've had problems ever since. The cold and hot seem to mix together on a single handle faucet. When I close the valves to the second heater, everything is fine, so I know it's not a faucet problem. I think the piping must be wrong at the heaters. They are piped with a tee into both cold inlets, and a tee from both hot outlets. Is this the proper way?
