When the tub drain is centered on a floor joist, removal of the top part of the joist may be needed to allow the drain to be fitted to the tub. The fittings must be evenly attached to prevent leaking. The plastic tub drains can be offset using a street 45 bend at the overflow to miss the floor joist.
