You would have to kill the roots outside the pipe to do any good, and there is no good way to do that. Removing the tree is not a solution, since the roots will still grow for 20 years as long as there is a water supply. Since the roots have already invaded the pipe, the best, and only long term, solution is to replace the pipe. : I have already spent a fortune to clean up the roots which cause clog every year. Does anyone know a good chemical to stop roots invading the inside the drain pipe? We are in the 21st century and I believe (hope) that there is something to cure the problem. or is removing the tree the only solution here??
