: We have installed for a second time a sewage sump pump to handle waste from the lower level of the house. The pump works but periodically it will not pump unless the 2" pipe leading out to the gate valve is jarred by hand. This pump is used for one toilet, one shower, laundry and drainage from the kitchen on the first floor. The first pump was replaced after 7 years, it is still working but a new pump was installed just in case it was a defective pump. Any advice you can give would be appreciated.

Mary Kay, The mercury switch is hanging up inside the sump pit. It needs to be repositioned so it will have free movement.Dale's Plumbing Service LMP
