: I have a 4 year old water heater that keeps going out. I have replaced the thermocouple. After doing that, it relit, warmed the water, but as soon as teh thermostat shut off the flame, the pilot went out. Now the pilot will not relight. I assume the thermocouple needs to be replaced again. I do not want to have to keep replacing the thermocouple. What could be the problem?

Kmoffitt, You may have a bad control. Make sure the flame is on the thermocoulpling. Only hand tighten and a 1/4 turn with a 3/8 wrench to tighten the TC. Dale's Plumbing Service LMP
