In response to Re: Replacing a drain line - Need advice
: A plumbing service has informed me the drain line from my back two bathrooms is broken. He ran a snake through the vent stack and said about 5 to 8 feet after making the 45 degree turn he hit mud. He suggested replacing the entire pipe from the house to the city's "Y" tie in. Estimated cost is $3000.00. My wife and I are expecting a new baby in a few months and can't afford that right now. Three questions: Can I do this job myself? Can I dig up the line and then have a plumber come in and do the replacement? If the answer to number two is yes, then how much is a reasonable charge for replacing a line that at most is 35 yards from the city line? Any and all replies are greatly appreciated.

Charles, replace the bad part that the plumber found mud at and camera the rest of the line to see if there is more damage. If the line is orange burg I suggest to replace entire line. Dale's Plumbing Service LMP
