: Hi, I have a shallow well pump that i inherited when i bougjt this farm. The pressure switch had to be replaced, and the pump worked fine afterwards. But now, every time we turn on the water it surges up and down, not a steady flow like it used to be. i found some water by the pressure tank, but haven't seen any leak. and the water isn't there all the time. Once the line went completly empty. I shut off the water and in a moment it came back on.but it does concern me. what do you think?

Check your expansion tank. It sounds like it is full.If it is it is a bad tank. Is your pump comeing on and off on and off. Bad expansion tank or water tank is water logged. If you have just a water tank drain the entire tank and put 30 lbs air in it.I suggest you install a new expansion tank if you do not have one.
