|In response to Re: Unfreezing a pipe|
The frozen material in the drain will cool the heated liquid almost immediately so that would not be a great benefit. Steam from a wall paper steamer or heat from a blow dryer are about the only safe methods that will not damage the pipe or destroy the house.
: I have a PVC pipe with frozen water in it and it is too near some electrical wires to heat it up from the outside. What about pouring some auto anti-freeze into the drain, or auto windshield wiper fluid, both of which don't freeze at the current outdoor temperature? Would they unfreeze the pipe? What do you think of my heating either the anti-freeze or wiper fluid up before pouring it down the drain? Any other suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you very much.
