Re-piping a old house.

I'm purchasing a home built in 1954. It still has the original plumbing. Nothing's really leaking...yet. I'm considering updating the plumbing before I move in. I'm not sure if I should or not. It seems like a huge expense considering nothing is leaking now.But I don't want to have to deal with it after I move all my new things into the house. What do you think. It seems like the galvanized pipes have probably lived their life expectancy. Should I re-do the plumbing?
