: There has to be some way to install a chrome shower arm without scratching and marring the finish, but I sure haven't found it. I've tried wrapping electrician's tape on the jaws of arc-joint pliers, putting rubber sheeting between the jaws and the shower arm, and I've tried two different configurations of strap wrenches. I've thought about buying curved jaw Robo-Grip pliers with the jaw protectors, but I have my doubts about the success of that. Does anyone have a sure-fire remedy?

I put the shower head loose on the arm, dope the wall end theads of the arm and thread the arm in by hand using no tools. When the arm is in and centered, i use a flat wrench to tighten the head to the arm. Terry
