|In response to Re: ABS repair|
: I have 3 inch ABS as drain pipe. About a 6 foot section has cracked at the seem and is leaking. I have never done repairs on plastic pipe but would like to atempt using fernco fittings. How close to a coupling can I safely cut; ie, is two inches enough for the fernco? How does one get a fernco fitting on easily----soap it----wd-40---how? How much ABS needs to be seated into the fernco? Is ABS easy to cut in place?
: Thx---I know these are dumb questions: taxes i am good at---Plumbing---No!
Rocky, Buy a 3" no hub or the fernco with all metal band only if in the house. The joint is about 2" long inside one of these couplings. Use a hack saw or a good hand saw. Cut a straight cut. Dale Peck LMP
