: I need to replace the galvanized pipes in my home. I was prepared to install copper, but have had several people tell me to use PVC instead. What is the general consensus on copper vs pvc and the pros and cons of each? Thanks.
Vance, There is nothing wrong with copper with the right conditions.Water conditions with different chemicals determines the longivity of copper.Do not use PVC as it tends to get brittle over the years. (20yrs) If you do use it is to be used on cold water only. I recomened a pex water system or use cpvc pipe on hot and or cold. The labor is a big saveings on plastic pipe. So bottom line is I would use pex pipe. Just my opinion. Dale Peck LMP
