|In response to Re: basement laundry sink installation|
: : I have purchased a 1960 Cape with a full walkout basement and want to install a laundry sink. It will need to empty via a pump into the pvc outlet pipe( at about 3 1/2 feet height). Approximately how much labor would be involved and what would material costs run?(So far I have an estimate of $600 for the job.)
: : Thank you.
: Marilyn, If it is only 3-1/2 ft to the drain why do you need a pump? The washer pump will pump higher than that.Sorry we don't give estimates over the phone. Dale Peck LMP
If all you want is a washer in the basement, then Dale is right - you don't need a pump, just some cheap plumbing fittings and trap. If you really want a sink, then $600 is probably very fair. The pump, sink, faucet, drain basket, fittings would total close to $400 or more, depending on the supplier of the pump unit (I like zoeller, goulds good too IMHO). If they are bringing in the hot and cold supply for the washer, plumbing and venting the pump, the price sounds pretty good.
