: Our home in Atlanta was built in 1964 on a concrete slab over the last 20 years we have had roots in the sewer pipe. Which of the replacement drain pipe has the strongest joint to prevent these roots from entering? Does the drain pipe under the slab need to be replaced now, when we replace the old drain pipe?

Bob, the best pipe today is sch 40 pvc or abs for drain vent and waste pipe. I always use pvc. You need to camera the lines under the slab and see if any tree roots have gotten into the cast iron pipe at the joints or fron cracked pipe to determane if the line needs to be replaced. Dale Peck LMP
