In response to Re: Removing an old cess pit in the garden
: I have discovered an old cess pit in my garden that I wan't to remove (the previous owner has covered the hole with concrete and built a greenhouse on it!). The hole is about 6ft square and 5ft deep. I don't think its as simple as just filling the hole in as I want to lay grass on top, and obviously want the ground to drain. Any tips on the best way or any hazards to avoid?

Scott, If the green house is not there anymore then contract a backhoe and dump truck and have it removed. Then fill the hole in with sand and top soil. There should be no problems with hazardes wastes if this was an old septic tank.Wear rubber gloves. Dale Peck LMP
