: I am looking for a series of valves, in sizes 1/2 to 3 inch NPT, that can be frozen without damaging the valve. : They are for water systems on railroad maintenance equipment. : For years we have used ordinary ball valves. Water trapped in the annular space around the ball : freezes & cracks the housing. Currently we drill a vent hole through the casting, but it blows out : water on transition from on to off. : I've looked at butterfly/wafer type, but flanges take up too much space. Globes will work, but too much : Valves are on/off, need to be drain, or be of design not to trap any water, but don't have to operate : Thanks for any help. kevin 1-800-535-6726 x2261 Kevin, I think you need stop and waste ball valves. They need to have the drain petcock opened manually and i think they should have left and right side drains. Dale Peck LMP |
