|In response to Re: Electronic / timer water softener bypass shutoff valves?|
You can install a lawn sprinkler type valve between the hard and soft water piping and use the timer's "main" or "pump" circuit to open it when the sprinklers are operating.
: Are there electronic or mechanical timers for water softener bypass valves? We've got the water softener hooked up to all the pipes in the house, including the sprinklers. We need to bypass the softener so we don't put salt (or potassium) on the yard, and so we get more pressure out of the sprinklers. To repipe would cost about $1k; so we'd rather get a timer installed to bypass during the time we normally water (1-4 am)
