: In installing the new shower or tub wall it is thicker compared to the old. I have the tub and wall on the studs, and with the wall cut out for the faucet the knobs will not fit. Is there a such a thing as extenders to get past the new wall. I can increase the nipple below to make it work.

Some tub faucets, such as Moen, have extensions for just this situation. What brand do you have? If no extensions can be found, you may want to replace the faucet with a pressure balanced one, as per the newer plumbing code, and set it at the proper distance. Terry
