In order to get a good looking long lasting finish, it has to be done by a professional refinisher. It costs about the same as a new tub, but you do not have to tear out walls and tile. so it is cheaper in the long run than a new tub. : We have a cast iron tub. It's about 45 years old and we want to resurface it. Is this a good idea? Can we do it ourselves? If we can do this ourselves can we get what we need at Lowes or somewhere like that?
