: I am in the process of converting a garage into a single room apartment, with a bathroom. Is it possible to add a bathroom drain system without having to jackhammer through the floor? In other words, is it feasable to build up the floor in the bathroom and install the drain system in this subfloor? Installing vents in the walls doesn't seem to be a problem, but my big dilemma is getting the drain system out and into the main sewer system.

Yes, it is possible to build a higher floor to place the plumbing. I would consider making the floor somewhere between 6-1/4" and 8" higher. It seems to work best, if the landing outside the bath door is at the same level. I would hate to fall down leaving the bathroom. Terry
