I have never seen a 3" flange that goes inside the pipe. It would reduce the opening to the point that you could have other problems down the road.
: To add: I looked today at a flange which fits inside the PVC pipe. This would allow me to cut the old flange and pipe off even with the floor and glue the new flange inside the pipe. The problem....the contractor used 3 inch PVC pipe and if I put a flange inside the 3 inch pipe, I then restrict the opening to 2 and 1/2 inches. Is this sufficient to get a proper flush?
