: Hi! I have tiled wall around bath tub. Tiles are in good shape. No cracks. Grout is still solid. I want to replace the tub by removing the bottom raw of the wall and install fake-marble wall on top of the existing tiled wall. By doing this, I don't have to demolish the existing tiles wall and don't have to worry about putting new wall. Is this advisible? or Is this something I souldn't do? Can someone give me an advise?

You would be better off, since you will be replacing the tub and installing marble, to remove the existing tile by cutting around it and disposing. New greenboard can be installed and the new marble panels glued to the greenboard. In this way, you will be able to check the wood behing the tub, have access to the tub faucet for replacement, and give a solid glueable surface for the marble to adhere to. Terry
