In response to Re: Water Pressure?

: Lately, while in the upstairs bathroom, we have been hearing this ocassional noisy, groaning type sound that reverberates throughout the house. It sounds like the noise is coming from the piping system. The sound occurs when no water is turned on or running. We have also noticed that, when we flush the toliet, sometimes it is slow to empty. Any ideas as to what is causing the noise? Could it be some kind of pressure problem with the system? Thanks.

I noticed that, in my my first post, my e-mail address was incorrect. I would also add here that the noise sounds more like a roar, and varies in terms of how long it lasts; usaually 3 or 4 seconds, and sometimes it's louder than others. It's driving me batty. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
