He is probably correct. You may be measuring the outside of the pipe, but it has to be 3" on the inside. Yours should be 2" pipe measuring 2 3/8- 2 1/2 inches. : Hi! We're putting a 3/4 bathroom in our basement where the laundry room once was. A friend of mine, a general contractor with a bit of plumbing experience, tells me we can't use the existing laundry drain for the toilet/shower/sink because it's too small. (The drain is about 3 inches in diameter.) Is this right? Thanks! Julie
