Peter:...To get the solder to take on the chromed copper or brass fitting or pipe,remove the chrome plating or rough it up by sanding so that the base metal shows through. If you wish to join a copper waste arm to a chrome plated "P-Trap", and your not a purist, consider using a rubber coupling made for that purpose. Lots of luck...Bud
