Concrete floor - "drop in flange"

I am replacing a basement toilet(never worked that I know of) on a concrete floor. The old one is 45+ yrs old and all wax is gone and there was NO flange in place so I can't "reverse engineer" this one. I need to rebuild everything. I had a "pro" take a look and he said I need a "drop-in flange". What is this exactly? Plus - a basic question ....Does the flange itself need to be screwed to the concrete floor? I don't understand how there's any stability if the flange isn't directly anchored somehow.

Tanks for the help!!
