In response to Re: Anodes for hot water heaters
: I have a contract with my local power company for my gas hot water heater, a year ago this month I had a water softener installed. I seen info. on the internet the salts in the water eats away anodes, I had a problem which apparently was the diptube. I inquired about the anode(to find out if there were any signs of one needing replacing) I was told no, I was told anodes would make the heater last forever BUT you cannot get anodes. Is this right? I cannot purchase the anode? Seems stupid if this is true.

Joseph, you should be able to get an anode tube through your local plumber. most plumbing supply houses carry them.they should be changed every 2-3 years from what i have read.Dale
