Lesa: The reason for the on again-off again operation of your pump is due to a waterlogged tank. If you do in fact have a captive air tank or (bladder type tank), it is time to find one to take its place. Very occasionally the shraeder valve on the top or side of the tank will malfunction or allow the air in the tank to escape. Shut the pump the faucets in the house, and pump the tank up to 30 pounds pressure. Close the open faucets...turn on the pump...if there is no improvement...get a new tank. Check the installation date on the tank if possible(most are warranted for five (5) years against failure. Lots of luck..Bud.
