: My fiance and I just bought a house and moved him in this past weekend. Upon attempting to fill the garden tub in the master bath, the faucet spat out little pieces of debris. The pieces are about 1/8" in diameter, irregular, white around the ege, bluish-white on one side, tannish on the other. Also when the tub was drained, there was a sandy rust-colored sediment left in the tub. There is no problem with either the temperature or the pressure. This debris and sediment comes out in the other bathtub, and it clogged up the faucet to the downstairs bath, but has not shown up anywhere else. Do you have any idea what might be causing this problem?

Rachel, it sounds like the dip tube has deteriated in the water heater. if you are running out of hot water pretty quick then it needs to be replaced. there were 2 million defective dip tubes made between 1993 --1995. if you are not running out of hot water then the previous owner may have replaced it already. if so you need to flush out your water heater.
