: I have a problem with a hum in my water pipes. This is different than other posts that I have read, as mine does it when no water is running. It will last about 5 to 10 secs and then stop. A while later it will do it again. Its quite loud and can make the fog horn sound at times. I have a well system if that makes a difference. Any remedies would be appreciated. Roy, check the flapper in the stools and change the ball cock. but first if you can, shut them off and see if you still have this noise.do you have a boiler? let me know. Dale
