You need a 1 1/2" pipe tap to clean the threads. : The DWV stack in our house is 3" cast-iron and the feed into it from the bathroom sink *was* galvanized pipe. When I took down the wall (plaster and lathe) behind the sink, I found that this pipe had corroded and had broken off from the tee on the cast iron pipe, leaving some of the pipe behind in the stack. I managed to hacksaw the pieces out of the tee, but I
