: Bathroom was renovated. New cement board, tub, floor,
: wall tile. Now that the job is done, I see that the plumber didn't install the new overflow system which includes a drain lever on the overflow plate. I dont want to remove any tile or the tub. Can the new drain system be installed if I have access from the next bedroom? I dont mind cutting a hole in the drywall and then repairing it.

you should be able to replace the waste and overflow from the back as long as you can get to the slip nut on the trap.you may be able to use a tool on the drain to unscrew it but a lot of times it has to be cut out with a hack saw or sawsall. better get a pro for this. you may be able to get new parts for the front to replace the old ones with out taking out the whole waste and over flow.
