In response to Re: Corian vs. Americast sinks
: : : We are putting a corian counter top in our new kitchen. The problem is that we do not know if we should get the corian sink or the americast sink. We have heard that the corian will stain pretty easily and is almost twice the cost of the americast. Have you heard anything bad about the americast sinks? Durability and stain resistance?

: :We put an Americast sink in last fall and it scratches very easily. Our old cast iron sink was in constant use for 27 years without a scratch. I don't think the "composite" sink has been perfected to the same level of durability as the cast iron sink.

We have a new home and had an Americast Sink installed. Within a few months, the sink began to scratch and show marks from the wear. I have never seen a cast iron sink with the same problem - had one for many years previously. So far, the manufacturer hasn't resolved the problem
