: Bob, : I have the same problem as you; water hammer, and lots of crackling in the water heater when a toilet or faucet is used. My water heater is less than a year old so I don't think your water heater is going out. I have check valves on the inlet and outlet of my water heater. Could this be contributing to the problem? I would appreciate it if Terry would elaborate a little more on the water heater noises. if you have check valves on your inlet and outlet of the water heater then i suggest you install an expansion tank in between those to check valves. the cackling noise is chemicals ,lime . calcium deposits in your water heater being heated up. look in to installing magnets on your system. i am going to try them myself.it is supposed to prevent calcium build up in water heaters, boilers, pipes etc. Dale |
