In response to Resolution of No Hot Water Thru Moen Faucet problem
I finally got the problem resolved by calling Moen direct. They said it had to do with what they called a "balancing spool", which is a penny-sized brass screw, behind which is a cylinder containing some sort of regulator. They told me that my hard water probably froze it up. It needs to move freely. They sent me a replacement free of charge, and after I replaced the old one, the hot water flows fine.
