: I've noticed lately that when I turn off the water faucet (either in a sink or shower), the pipes seem to make a vibrating sound inside the walls for a about five to ten seconds. The vibrating starts off with a low volume, peaks, then fades away. If I turn on the faucet during the vibrating, the vibrating will stop, but returns once the water is turned off. I've lived in this house for over two years, and this has just started happening in the past couple of months. Any ideas as to what's going on?

you may have a loose washer in a valve, or it could be a bad ballcock in the stool. shut off the stools and try the sink or shower.
