Moving a toilet drain line

I am doing a master bath remodel on a small bathroom.. Will gut the bathroom. I plan on switching the toilet and the shower (terrible layout presently). There is now 3' between the drains. Could I get to the waste pipe from underneath the floor (I have a crawl space), cut it back, start over, and run it to the new area 3' over for the toilet? Any suggestions and/or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
