It is more leakproof since the water would be sprwying at the hinge, But if the shower is large enough, then that is a minor consideration. There is no safety issue as long as the door swings outward, : My stand-up shower is located in the corner so I have a sitiation where two sides have glass one side has a door. My contractor installed the right-handed shower door so that it opens away from the wall that has the shower head and hinges on the open corner. I am asking him to do a left-handed door on the same side so that it is easy to get in/out of shower. He is telling me that it is more leak proof and safer this way. Can you suggest me a better solution. : I really appreciate your recommendation. : -Prakash
