: I'm looking for anyone who knows anything about chronic problems with plastic (polymar) dip tubes breaking down (depolymarizing) in hot water heaters. I don't mean breaking off but literally turning to a plastic mush that ends up either coming out of your tap into your water supply or gumming up the workings of your distribution channel? My understanding is that this problem might be related to a problem with the formula used to create the dip tube material at the point of manufacture. I'd be very interested in hearing from anyone who has any experience with this problem.

there have been several posts about this problem. you will need to replace your dip tube. the manufacture will probably help you on this matter or contact the plumber who installed the heater and he may help you.this ia a big problem with a lot of heaters but easily fixed.you may be able to do a search on this site or even look up the manufacture on the web.
