![]() Dip tube replacement is fairly easy. Replacements can be bought at most hardware stores. You will want to have a good sized pipe wrench, and a new 3/4 x 3" pipe nipple. I prefer either the plastic lined galv nipples or brass. Brass, yeah, I like them. Terry : I have a gas hot water heater and the amount of hot water has diminished over the past 6 months. I had a plumber replace the dip tube in 1991 which I recall solved the problem.
