hi diane........this may not apply to you........but basement water problems can originate by water runoff on the outside of the house.........very common for bad gutters to overflow during a rain, the overflow naturally drops right next to the house......seeping down along the outside wall, and accumulates around, and under the basement floor.........same sort of cause, if the dirt right next to the house does not provide a "downhill" flow away from the house........and finally......if the yard slopes toward the house from any direction, water will be naturally flowing up against the house............again, these conditions may not apply to you......but if they do, they are a cheap fix, compared to the possibility of an underground spring ........good luck!.........jay dragon
