If the pipe is out of the well, then cut it off flush with the pump inlet, assuming you can get that close to it, and then use a hacksaw blade to make a cut through the side of the pipe inside the pump. Cut only about half way through it, and then use a pin punch to roll the remaining threads in and off the pump threads. Remove the deformed threads and install the new pipe. : While rehabing a pitcher pump, fitted to a : shallow well , I've run into a real problem : trying to remove the old 1 1/4" galvanized down pipe from the cast iron pump base. : I've been using liquid wrench and a : propane torch for three days. to no avail. : The pipe is in good shape but really : frozen to the cast iron.
