I bought my home in 1989, the original owner did some remodeling of the kitchen in 1988, moving the kitchen sink to another area of the kitchen.
In the process of moving the sink, he had the Poly
installed for the new location.
The poly was attached to the existing copper pipes in the house. My entire house has copper, except where he did the remodeling.
In 2001, I went downstairs (my house is multilevel) and noticed water pouring out of the
ceiling. The water felt hot. I managed to go
outside to where the water meter was and cutoff
the water.
I had a plumber replace the poly tubing with copper.
I had considerable damage, (approx $3,000). Luckily, I caught it in time, as I had over $20,000 worth of stereo equipment near the area.
