: Would like to hear from anyone who has had any experience in the last phase (10 years after installation) of the Cox Vs Shell lawsuit (polybutylene plumbing). We have had two leaks in the past month. Our home was built in May of 89. Any help would be appreciated.
We purchased our house new in February 1989. In December of 1994, we had an in the wall leak of a hot water line that was repaired at a cost of $983.00 at the time. I submitted a damage claim to CPRC in July, 1996. In March, 1998, the claims adjuster came to our house to inspect the already repaired damage. Our plumber had to give her a written statement regarding the pipe and fittings. We were then issued a check for $762.50. I was glad to get any of it back. However, last week, we found out, following a leak, that we had the pipe in the main line coming into the house. Repairs are over $1800.00 and we may not be able to recoup due to the age of the house, but I'll try!
