the best long term repair would be to put it on with a lead joint, but since you do not have the equipment and knowledge to do it, get an E-Z Tach flange from your plumbing supply. It fits on the outside of the pipe and secures with 4 bolts compressing a gasket. This will give you a full size opening in the floor for the toilet to set over which will minimize the possibility for leaking.

: I am remodeling a bathroom and I need to install a toilet flange on the existing cast iron waste pipe.
: The existing pipe had the original flange cut off at floor level by a plumber. The remaining pipe looks
: to be 4 inches in diameter.

: I looked at different plumbing supply stores but it was not clear how I would attach a new flange
: to the existing pipe or even what type of flange to use.

: I heard something about plumbers using molten lead to make this type connection but I have not found
: any information regarding this.

: So, can someone fill me in on how this is accomplished.

: Thanks,

: Kevin
