lEAKING TOILET TANK BOLTS

I had to pull my bowl when I had my bathroom florr replaced and while I was at it I decided to replace all the rubber washers, including the tank bolts. I hooked everthing up and both bolts are leaking very slow. I remove the now bolts and re-used the old bolts (they were in good shape) because they have a bigger head. They still leak ever so slow. I have tightend the bolts pretty good but fear if I crank down any tighter, I might break the tank. Should I be usig some type of sealant on the rubber fittings?
