The trick is to prefit the drain to the tub, and then connect it to the plumbing. If it is done properly, the drain and overflow will be in the proper places when the tub is set in place.

: When I replace the cheap old tub in my bathroom on the 2nd floor, how can I hook up the drain etc
: without going through the ceiling in the living room below? I would like to avoid going through the walls
: beside the tub if possible - although the wet wall at the head of the tub will be opened on the bathroom
: side (a true 4" space), so I should be able to hook up the supply lines. Do I need a particular style of
: bathtub? Although I have done quite a lot of plumbing, this will be my first tub. Any advice would be
: great.
