Repetitive clogging of kitchen sink

I've been renting a house for the past four months and the kitchen sing clogs up about every couple
of weeks. I have been using the plunger and various drain openers to open the drain, with varied success.

1. What are the possible causes for the clogging ?

2. My landlady says it's because I pour used oil down the drain. Regardless of whether this is true
or not, (she has no way of knowing and I don't pour more than I have in the past with no problem
of clogging drains) is this possible and could it have clogged my drain in the four months I've
been living here? What is the recommended method for disposing used oil, or oily substances?
