I wish to add a shower enclosure to an existing bathroom and relocate the utility tub. I see that a cast iron drain pipe was used below the concrete where a utility tub was before. I need to add a new drain for the shower, and also one for the relocated utility tub. After I break up the concrete, do I just "wye" into the old line for each of the new drains into the existing line? What size pipe should I be using? Do I install a p-trap below ground for the shower? If I install one vent at the end of the line, is it enough for the two drains? Do you have any other pointers for a do-it-your-selfer? Thanks, Dennis Also, overhead the new enclosure is another p-trap for the second floor bath tub. I need to relocate this trap futher away from the tub to make head-room for the new enclosure. Is this okay to do? |
